History
The initial meeting of the December Birthday Circle was held on November 30, 1982 under the guidance of Deacon Harvey Broadie our spiritual advisor. The officers elected to serve were: President; Deacon Carl Felton, Vice-President; Betty Poole, Secretary; Sue Williams and Program Coordinator, Marion Rogers. Other members included; Carol Arnold, Renee Berkeley, Ruth Daye, Edward Floyd, Kay Fox, Sheila Jackson, Yvette Mills, Faye Nobles, Vemala Tabron, Bernice Washington, Christie Washington, and Joann.”
Goals
The primary objectives were:
- To grow in grace and knowledge through bible study.
- To fellowship with others in other birthday.
- To fellowship with the Pastor and his family.
- To pray together with and for our church.
- To provide outreach to the community and prisons.
- To study and fellowship with associate ministers and their families.
- To adopt a family in financial crisis through Heart to Hand Agency to provide a Thanksgiving meal and provide Christmas gifts, prayer, and tracks for family.
Activities& Services
We actively participate in spiritual activities as a group through out the year.
- Assist the Psalms Ministry for Christmas fellowship brunch.
- Sponsored youth to summer camp through the AWANA ministry.
- Participate with the Missionary Ministry in preparing Thanksgiving baskets for underprivileged families.
- Sponsored old fashion down home country cookout and fellowship in Heathsville, VA with catered foods, Bible Trivia, basketball, horseshoes, games, and scenic walks.
- Join Reverend George Frisby for an inspired service at the Central Union Mission.
- Sponsor year-end Christmas fellowship brunch and gift exchange after sitting together for morning worship service.
- Provide for the spiritual and physical needs of women at the Shepherd's Cove homeless shelter through a dimes ministry.
- Breakfast fellowship in April to encourage greater participation by others with birthdays in December.
