Business Description:

Who We Are:
Lillian’s Place was inspired years ago by Lillian Smith, my grandmother. We incorporated in August of 2016 and became a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization in October of 2017.

Long before “giving back” had a name, I was taught that each of us is responsible for helping whomever we can, whenever we can. The key role that she played in motivating me to work with vulnerable and at-risk youth did not reveal itself until years after her death. Lillian’s Place not only bears her name but is proud to continue her tradition of helping those who have nowhere else to turn. Her legacy of uplifting and empowering those in need is our foundation.

Mission Statement:
Lillian’s Place is a safe haven for vulnerable and at-risk youth who want a way out of their downward spiral but lack the support to effect change in their lives. Though most youth programs are either socio-economic, gender or ethnically specific, Lillian’s Place takes a different approach. Our mission is to identify and assist any at-risk juvenile aged 16-24 that resides in the Washington Metropolitan area (DC, MD or NOVA).

What We Do:
Our program will provide the core skills necessary to assist our participants in restructuring and rebuilding lives that have been all but destroyed by:
• Homelessness
• Drug and sexual abuse
• Parental abuse/neglect
• Foster care transitioning
• Prostitution
• Violence
• Criminal activity, and
• Early exposure to the penal system and other societal ills that plague today’s youth.

Our services include: transitional housing, life/independent living skills, substance abuse counseling, coping skills/anger management training, GED/secondary and post-secondary education and scholarship resources, employability/job retention skills, self-esteem building, criminal record expungement, and reunification support.
