Business by the Book

Introduction

Business by the Book is an eight-week course designed to help the business leader and entrepreneurs achieve the following objectives:

  1. To integrate principles from Scripture with your daily business practices.
  2. To grow your business profitably.
  3. To develop leadership skills and to grow in Christ so that you will be more like Him as a business leader and entrepreneur.

Mission Statement

To support the development of successful Christ-led businesses and entrepreneurs.

History

Business by the Book was founded at First Baptist Highland Park in 2016 by Dr. Karen Alexander, and Brother James Silver to assist in the development of Christ-led businesses.

Services and Activities

We are developing the services component of this class by supporting First Baptist of Highland Park-based businesses and other local businesses.

Activities include conducting a weeknight-based class (usually held on Thursday evening – 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM). Each class will meet for eight weeks including a class social.

Each class session will cover key aspects of business operation from a Biblical perspective, and require weekly homework, business case studies, Bible study, and reciting study-related memory verses. Homework completion is mandatory for participation in the class. Students must attend at least six classes to graduate and receive a Certificate of Completion.

Scripture Reference

1 Chronicles 29:11-12 (TLB)
“Everything in the heavens and earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom.
We adore you as being in control of everything. Riches and honor come from you alone, and you are ruler of all mankind, your hand controls power and might, and it is at your discretion that men are made great and given strength.”
